The new brand ambassador of PokerStars India, MS Dhoni
As announced on the brand’s Facebook page, former captain of the Indian cricket team, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), has been signed by PokerStars India as the brand ambassador. The brand posted on Facebook, ‘We welcome Mahendra Singh (MS) Dhoni to join India’s online poker.’
The endorsement deal was delayed due to COVID-19’s impact on the world and the postponement of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and other sporting events.
The objective of bringing PokerStar India’s Dhoni on board is to increase its market share in the industry, as cricket giants number millions of Indians.
Prior to Dhoni, Nawazuddin Siddiqui supported the brand on television and social media. Other Ambassadors of PokerStarts India include Muskan Sethi and Sharad Rao, while Aditya Agarwal left the brand in December 2019.
Dhoni joined the iGaming industry in March 2018 when he was signed as the brand ambassador of the fantasy sports platform Dream 11. In addition to signing Dhoni as its brand ambassador, PokerStars first signed on to sponsor Bigg Boss season 13, which was trying to reach the mass market.
PokerStars commenced its operations in India on 17 April 2018 by Rational Intellectual Holdings Limited and its India licensee, Sachiko Gaming Holdem Limited.
