A water test of casinos in the Mandovi River in Goa was conducted by the Goa State Pollution Control Board(GSPCB) which concluded that the cause of pollution in the river is not the casino.
The GSPCB was directed by the National Green Tribunal to audit the water of the casinos in the river. GSPCB’s member secretary Shamila Monteiro said that the High Court ordered to monitor the water quality. Monteiro explained that, “The tank is opened in the presence of board officers and port captains to discharge sewage tankers for treatment at the sewage treatment plant.” The board keeps records of sewage collected and transported.
On 15 June, the state’s environment minister Nilesh Kabral announced the auditing of the casino’s water after the Congress, alleging that the state government was not sufficient to monitor the water pollution caused by offshore casinos in the Mandovi river Still working. Cabral announced that the GSPCB would conduct a water audit of all offshore casinos on a monthly basis, including the raw water in the vessels and the water discharged into the sewage tanks.
