Lottery Ticket Sales Resumed in Kerala after Two Months
On May 21 in Kerala, resumed the sale of lottery tickets in the state after two months. The Lottery Directorate in the state stopped the sale of lotteries on 21 March to prevent the spread of coronaviruses in Kerala.
Eight lotteries sold 1.39 lakh tickets on Thursday in Kerala. In May, only deferred draw tickets are to be sold, which were postponed two months ago. Their draw will be held in the month of June. Tickets for the new draw will also be made available in June.
The Kerala Department of Lotteries has a network of around 35,000 lottery ticket agents and 100,000 retailers. The lottery sector was in crisis and during the last two months many lottery agents were unemployed in the state. The Kerala government had planned to restart lottery sales to support lottery vendors and the health sector from revenue earned from lottery sales.
Even though now the lottery sales have resumed in the fourth phase of nationwide Lockdown due to COVID-19 epidemic, but according to a report by Times Now News, lottery ticket vendor Rameshan B in Thiruvananthapuram said, “We are in a decline in sales Is seen because people stay at home due to lockdown ”.
