Gambling By Dhaka High Court is illegal in Bangladesh
All types of gambling in Bangladesh have been declared illegal by the Dhaka High Court, as well as the court also said that the Public Gambling Act, 1867 should be updated and the punishment for gambling should be increased.
The High Court has directed the law enforcement agencies to take action against the gamblers so that any equipment used for gambling can be confiscated immediately. Restricted games in this order include indoor games such as dice, Hosie, one-ten, flash, and chorchori. Because playing these games involves luck rather than skill.
The punishment under the Public Gambling Act, 1857 is three months in jail and a fine of Tk200. This law is applicable outside the metropolitan areas, but it has not yet been implemented in Dhaka city.
