After the TikTok, Ansari Urged Center to Ban Online Rummy
Following the ban of 59 Chinese apps in India, Tamil Nadu MLA M. Thammun Ansari urged the Center to ban other apps that are ‘danger’ to society. Apps like PUBG and Online Rummy as it is a threat to society and the younger generation. He has also focused on the fact that using such an app, children are sitting in one place for hours.
Recently a few days ago the founder of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), Dr.S. Ramdas also demanded a ban on online rummy and other online gambling sites from the central and state government due to which youth are drowning in debt and poverty.
The Indian government has recently banned 59 mobile apps including top platforms such as Tickcock, WeChat, Weibo and Halo to prevent the threat posed by these apps for the country’s “sovereignty and security”.
This restriction came into force with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and safeguards for blocking access to information to the public) Rules 2009 with the coming into force of Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.
Ansari explained that “such apps pose a threat to children’s health as well as their ability to think. This is a big challenge for our society.” Ansari had earlier demanded a ban on Tikkok in the Legislative Assembly.
