Sports Wagering Rules Released – Phase II

The Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) on Thursday published Phase II of the rules that would govern sports betting in the prairie state.

Sports betting was approved as part of a broader gaming expansion. There is great incentive to get it up and running because the activity is happening in Indiana and Iowa.

Published rules include a ban on betting on minor league teams, any college game involving Illinois schools and high school competitions, and placing wagers on behalf of betters that prevent those bets from being made themselves.

Frucher states that applicants can obtain a temporary license to offer sports betting once the application is “betting, submitted, and approved”. But no timeline was given.

About Phase II

Newly published stipulations of IGB are also concerned, for operator record keeping, where bets can be placed, what types of bets can be placed, and more.

According to the regulatory agency “The phase 2 sports wagering rules govern accounting measures, financial record requirements, Initiation of wagering, prohibited wagers, types of events allowed, types of wagers authorized, conduct of wagering, house rules for wagering, internet wagering requirements, sports wagering accounts, responsible gaming limits, reporting prohibited conduct, (and) official league data,”.
